 North West side of Milwaukee
« Thread Started on Sept 18, 2009, 8:51pm »

Anyone out there know of haunted sites on the nw side of Milwaukee, say from downtown north to the old Northridge area? It seems most haunted places in town are on the south side. I'd appreciate your input.

Thanks,

Carol

I grew up on the south side, so I know about creepy places down there ... I work right near the area you are asking about. I don't know any off hand, but I'll snoop around a bit.

Haunted Cedarburg & NW side of Milwaukee

Kozmos,

You ever check out Founder's Park in Cedarburg? I also heard the third floor of the mill is haunted. Not too far away is a side street that runs east from that overpriced candy and ice cream shop, across the street from the large time clock. There is a restaurant in the middle of the block. I was told that it's very haunted and you can cut the air with a knife. Sorry I don't know the name of the place.

Also, 5 Corners bar on the outskirts of the city, and not far from that is a cemetery in an area called Friestadt. Do you know of any of these places?

Carol

Hi Carol,

I just recently moved out of Cedarburg after living there for 13 years, so I am very familiar with all of the places you have mentioned!

Founder's Park is basically a great Halloween legend ... I know some people who have experienced severe cold spots, but nothing other than that ... and the cops keep a close eye on it - especially this time of year.

The road that runs east from Amy's candy is Columbia - the restaurant I believe is now called Klugs. It apparently is very haunted (been in there - very dark and stifling) - especially the bathrooms (!). They will not let anyone investigate.

The Old Mill kiddy-corner from the restaurant is haunted - the third floor has shadows and noises ... and the fifth floor (closed off for a long time) is where a teen boy hung himself long ago.

Up the road, on the corner of Bridge and Washington is the Winery/Mill district. That mill, though old, is benign/no activity. The small shop on the NE corner of the Bridge/Washington crossing is haunted (second floor). Many witnesses ... folded quilts ... moving stuff.

The 5 corners bar is also supposedly haunted, but if the smoke doesn't keep you away - the owners will.

Cedarburg has a rich history (people hid from indians in the mills way back when) and I believe has plenty of haunted areas .... BUT ...

good luck getting into any of them. The town is locked up tight when it comes to investigation.

If you are interested in finding out some more of the stories, next weekend they have the annual Gothic Tour ... a tour that takes you to (and occasionally through) some of the hot spots .. and you learn the history of the town to boot.

Kosmos,

Isn't the Washington Hotel suppose to be haunted? It certainly is spooky in the long, dark hallways! We stayed there overnight and I stayed awake most of the night waiting but nothing happened. The atmosphere is certainly conducive. What say you Cedarburg historian?

My mom and sister stayed overnight there once (they are both usually on the lookout for ghosties). 'Tis a creepy place ... stone walls and all ... they stated it has a funny "feeling" about it, but nothin materialized.

So, as far as paranormals:

"It might rabbit .. it might."
